Fabio Quartararo, nicknamed El Diablo, made history in 2021 when he became the first French rider to win the MotoGP premier-class world championship. Born in Nice on 20 April 1999, Quartararo began motorcycle racing at age four and later moved to Spain to develop his career. His MotoGP debut came in 2019 with Petronas SRT, where he immediately announced his arrival with three wins and ten podiums. When he stepped up to Yamaha's factory team in 2021, he delivered the world title in his first season, cementing his status among the sport's elite.
From 2021 through 2024, Quartararo accumulated eight race wins and 21 podiums for the Yamaha factory squad, racing in the iconic Monster Energy livery that defined the early 2020s title battles. Yamaha confirmed in April 2024 that he would remain a factory rider through 2026, though he announced in June 2026 that he would depart for Honda Racing Corporation. In July 2026, Honda confirmed Quartararo would join its factory MotoGP team for 2027 and 2028, marking a new chapter for the French champion.
