Massive Attack is a British trip-hop group from Bristol, England, formed in 1988 by Robert "3D" Del Naja and Grant "Daddy G" Marshall. Emerging from Bristol's late-1980s Wild Bunch sound-system scene, the collective also included early members Adrian "Tricky" Thaws and Andrew "Mushroom" Vowles. Their 1991 debut album Blue Lines helped define trip-hop, blending downtempo beats, deep basslines, and soulful vocals into a template that influenced an entire generation.
