McLaren is a British automotive and racing brand founded in 1963 by New Zealand driver and engineer Bruce McLaren. Based in Woking, England, the company grew out of McLaren Racing and has remained closely tied to its motorsport identity for over six decades. Bruce McLaren's team began in 1963, with the first McLaren-built race car, the M1, following in 1964. In 1968, Bruce McLaren won the Belgian Grand Prix in a car of his own design, one of the rare drivers to achieve that feat. McLaren won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1995 with the F1-GTR and returned to Le Mans in 2024 in the GT3 category.
The brand's road-car lineage includes the McLaren F1, which remains the signature modern-era icon for many fans, the 12C era, and later V8 models like the 720S and 750S.
