Mac DeMarco turned a loose, homemade aesthetic into one of indie's most recognisable worlds, and his covers are a big part of it. The Canadian songwriter's sleeves share a wry, slightly off-kilter sensibility — snapshots, scrawls, washed-out colour — that makes the discography unusually coherent as a set of prints. The early records

The run opens with Rock and Roll Night Club (2012) and 2 (2012), the records that introduced his woozy, lo-fi sound and his loose visual style. These early covers carry the homemade charm that built his following, and as prints they read as the start of a particular world. Salad Days and Another One

Salad Days (2014) is the breakthrough, the record that turned the cult act into an indie fixture, and Another One (2015) followed with its warm, romantic mini-LP. Their covers are among the most reached-for in the collection, and Salad Days in particular carries a wall on its own at A1. Hung together, the two mark the moment DeMarco's world fully came into focus.

This Old Dog and Here Comes the Cowboy

The later records deepen the mood. This Old Dog (2017) turns reflective and acoustic; Here Comes the Cowboy (2019) stretches into something sparser and stranger; and Five Easy Hot Dogs (2023) wanders further still into instrumental travelogue. Each cover keeps the loose, personal style while widening the palette, which makes the later run a varied set to hang beside the early records.

The demos and deeper cuts
