Blur were at the centre of Britpop and then spent the rest of their career escaping it, and the album covers map that restlessness. Led by Damon Albarn and Graham Coxon, the band moved from sharp English pop to lo-fi experiment to widescreen comeback, each record arriving with its own strong, often witty sleeve. Think Tank (2003), with its Banksy cover, pushed into electronic and worldly textures; The Magic Whip (2015), written in Hong Kong, was the unexpected comeback that proved the band still had somewhere to go. Their covers are among the most graphic in the collection, and they pair cleanly with the Britpop records to show just how far Blur travelled from the greyhound track.
The recent The Ballad of Darren (2023) is the reflective late record, its cover quiet and elegiac, and the hub carries it alongside the live Parklive and the odds-and-ends Bustin' + Dronin'. These are the sleeves for the listener who followed the band past the hits, and they round the collection out into a fuller portrait of a catalogue that never stopped shifting.
What ties the Blur prints together is a sharp, often playful design sense — strong single images, bold colour, a very English wit.
