Blur emerged from London in 1988 when Damon Albarn, Graham Coxon, Alex James, and Dave Rowntree came together to form one of Britain's most influential rock bands. The group's roots trace to Albarn and Coxon's school connection in Colchester, Essex, before the lineup took shape in the capital. Originally performing under the name Seymour, the band adopted the Blur name in 1989 and made their live debut that same year, two years before their first album arrived.
From their 1991 debut Leisure through to 2023's The Ballad of Darren, Blur's discography charts a remarkable evolution across more than three decades. The band became especially associated with Britpop in the mid-1990s, with Parklife and The Great Escape helping define that era's peak. After Graham Coxon left the group in 2002, Blur released Think Tank in 2003, then returned with The Magic Whip in 2015 after a long gap in studio albums. Their journey continued with The Ballad of Darren in 2023 and the Live at Wembley Stadium release in 2024, proving their enduring creative vitality and connection with audiences across generations.
